Ruby studied classical portraiture for 3 years at Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy, where she learned drawing and painting from life. In Florence she exhibited at Villa Palmerino and Volume, Santo Spirito.

After a stint in London where she explored the contemporary art world and exhibited at The Holy Art, Dalston, and Boomer Gallery, London Bridge, Ruby settled back in Florence where she now works out of a studio in Santo Spirito and in the open air. Ruby paints entirely under natural light, entirely from life, imagination, or reference sketches, using traditional Italian methods and materials (hand-ground archival pigments, hand-primed linen canvas) without the use of photography or anything digital.

Don’t hesitate to make contact in regards to commissioning or purchasing a painting.

Sitting for a portrait can take place in Florence or in your place of residence upon request.
